OUR NAME
Agora
is a word from ancient Greece that refers to the act of gathering in an open space, a concept that reflects the collaborative nature of our organization and what drives us.
Azul,
meaning blue in Spanish, reminds us of oceans, and that while we are separated by water, it is also what connects us.
Our team’s remote working modality and ability to work collaboratively across different countries and oceans are what define AgoraZul.
We are an international and multidisciplinary team that works in a remote modality and travels for projects as required.

Phoebe Kirkup
Phoebe has been active in the field of international relations for 10 years, and in the education field for 7.
With a bachelor’s degree in international development and a master’s degree in global education policies, she has supported project management in areas such as higher education, equity and inclusion, education policy, youth and community engagement and sustainability. She has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, providing technical expertise, project management and research. Phoebe believes that everyone’s knowledge has value, and she is passionate about collaborating across diverse sectors and forms of knowledge. She is motivated to contribute to work that creates more inclusive spaces for all and amplifies community engagement at both local and global levels.

Josefina Sotomayor
Josefina has more than 14 years of experience in the education and culture sectors, through research and management roles in diverse topics such as higher education, TVET, youth and community engagement, early leaving, lifelong learning, employability, teachers' and trainers’ professional development and institutional governance. During her studies in economics, public policy, and education policies, she developed a quantitative-oriented background and carried out research with a special focus on inclusion and equity issues. Her professional experience has allowed her to expand her understanding of these matters in both local and international contexts, while gaining a strong knowledge base and policy experience from working in cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural environments.
OUR WORK
Sharing a common concern for human rights, equity and responsible global citizenship, our team strives to collaborate on projects in our specialized areas of education, social inclusion and international relations, as well as those focused on gender equity, diversity, community engagement and sustainable development. We are particularly passionate about initiatives that involve the voices and experiences of individuals and communities that have systematically been ignored or marginalized, including considerations of identity, gender, ability and origin, among other factors.
